Cretan Cooking Lessons

Traditional Cretan Cooking Lessons by Androniki & Pantelis

We wish to give to friends of Crete, the experience of our true life and true homemade traditional food.
Our lessons take place in the flowered courtyard of our house and the food is baked in the old fashion wood oven.
The dishes we prepare are part of the daily diet of Cretans.
These are based on olive oil, or as it is known “the gold of Cretan land” and seasonal vegetables.
The ingredients (olive oil, vegetables, fresh meat, fresh milk, wild greens, herbs, fresh eggs, fruits, etc.) are either from our own garden or from farmers very close to us.

Our menu can be also adapted for our vegetarian friends.

your visit to our house includes

           a warm welcome 
with homemade lemonade and kallitsounia (cheese pies with homemade cheese and honey),
a short tour of our place which is decorated with many old things,
and of course chatting to get to know each other.


          the cooking lesson
is interactive and most food is baked in the wood-oven. 
We prepare five recipes:
 Appetizer 
•  homemade cheese with fresh sheep milk
•  tzatziki (famous Greek salad or dip)
 Main dishes
•  moussaka.
•  gemista (vine leaves, zucchini flowers, tomatoes, zucchini, and pepper stuffed)
Dessert
•  sfakianes pites (traditional pies with homemade cheese from mountains of Chania) 
  
      for our vegetarian guests:
 Appetizer 
• homemade cheese with fresh sheep milk
• tzatziki (famous Greek salad or dip)
 Main dishes
• Chaniotiko boureki (recipe from Chania with zucchini and cheese)
• gemista (vine leaves, zucchini flowers, tomatoes, zucchini, and pepper stuffed)
Dessert
• Sfakianes pites (traditional pies with homemade cheese from mountains of Chania)
  
        Visit our botanical garden.
A short tour to our garden where you can see, smell and learn about the Cretan aromatic herbs and vegetables.

        Meal
the meal includes the dishes we prepare and some more:
Appetizer 
•  chortopites (pies with wild winter green)
•  onions pies
•  homemade cheese with fresh sheep milk
•  daco (Creta salad) (rusk with tomato, cheese, olive oil, herb)
•  tzatziki (famous Greek salad or dip)
•  Greek salad
 Main dishes
•  moussaka or eggplants with cheese and tomato-onion sauce
•  gemista (vine leaves, zucchini flowers, tomatoes, zucchini, and pepper stuffed)
•  a random everyday dish
Dessert
•  sfakianes pites and
•  homemade ice cream with traditional spoon sweet

Included: local wine, raki and homemade liqueur.

•  We have a cooking class on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, for the months of May to October 7th.  (No availability for October)

•  Duration: approx. 4 hours (including meal)
•  Number of Participants: min 2 people, max 12 people
•  Written recipes and some souvenirs from our garden products.
